Selling Through Social Media

Everyone tells me that Pressure Sensitive Products needs to be out on Facebook, Google+ and every other social media network out on the web. I have also heard that we need a blog, if we want to totally immerse ourselves into internet selling. While I certainly do not disagree with these sentiments, getting up and running in all of those venues is no small task. Once you think you have everything set up, how do you know your message is reaching anyone? I am supposed to go out and ask all of my friends to like our Facebook page, and in turn their friends could go out and like our page, and their friends and their friends….you get the picture. Well a lot of my friends are back in Philadelphia, and just because they like our Facebook page, does not mean that they are going to be doing business with Pressure Sensitive Products in Phoenix any time soon. Google+ wants you to invite people into a circle. Well sometimes I feel like I am going around in circles trying to figure out who to friend and who to follow. As far as my blog is concerned, I am really confused. I have more people reading my blog than friends on Facebook and Google+ put together! Go Figure……How do they even know my blog is out here on the internet?

All kidding aside, Pressure Sensitive Products knows that a great internet presence is very important in this day and age. Most people log into these social media sites many times during a day, and if your message is not out there you have missed a tremendous opportunity to get more business for your company. Even if your pitch is out there, it is imperative that people who can use your products see your message. That is the task that Pressure Sensitive Products is now undertaking. We are trying to pinpoint our target audience, so that our advertising can be directed to them.

The photo on the below is of a half wrap that we did for one of our clients. Our customer wanted his vehicle to resemble a Police SUV. When the Tahoe came into our shop it was completely white. PSP designed, produced and installed all of the graphics that you see. Our client was amazed!. He could not believe it was the same vehicle that he had left with us a few days earlier! He wanted this vehicle for a trade show, and it was a big hit with all of his clients. Thanksgiving Thoughts And Wishes

Every Thanksgiving I sit down and try to put into words all I am thankful for. There are so many things, even in these tough times that give me that blessed feeling. Hopefully, you will get the warm and fuzzies too!

Most important to me is that I can worship God in whatever manner I choose, without risk of castigation by anyone. There are many countries today that do not have this right. People are berated, beaten and thrown in prison, just because they do not worship the state supported deity. I do thank the Good Lord each and every day for this blessing.

Family and Friends are second on my list. Where in the world would we be without them? Their love and support gets us through the trying times in our lives by giving us a shoulder to cry on. Our happiest moments would not be quite so happy without our family and friends sharing in them. I am so very thankful that I have so many people who are near and dear to me.

I live in the United States and I am an American. With all of her faults, there is no greater country in the world than the good old U.S.A. I have lived and traveled to many foreign countries, and believe me, there is no place like America. This is not a political statement….It is a fact. Look at the rest of our universe and tell me where on this earth you would rather live! I am very thankful for being right where I am.

I would be very remiss if I did not tell you how thankful I am for all of our service men and women, as well as our police officers and fire fighters. Without them we would not be able to live life as we do. They put their lives on the line each and every day for us. I pray often that they all return home safely to their love ones.

On Thanksgiving day I am also very thankful for the turkey, pumpkin pie and football. On that note I want to wish everyone out there in blogland a very Happy Thanksgiving!

To Buy Or Not To Buy

Let the buyer beware! That should be the motto for anyone purchasing decals from an online store. One of the biggest arguments that I have heard from prospective buyers is why should I buy my decals from you, when I can buy them online for half of the price? There are a number of reasons to buy them locally from a manufacturer. Probably most importantly is that you are boosting the economy in your very own city or town. There are a number of other reasons and I am going to attempt to go through them right now. Most of the online stores that I have seen will sell you decals at a very low cost, but you have no say so in the vinyl that is used in the printing process. The vinyl is very important, because that is what ultimately determines the durability of your graphics. If you want good looking graphics that will last for years, make sure you purchase an intermediate or top of the line vinyl. Your local decal manufacturer can show you the differences in the various grades of vinyl.

Color is another reason to purchase your graphics in person, rather than online. If you are a business, or an individual that is particular about your colors, will that online store be able to match those colors? Sure they will send you a digital proof, but that is not always accurate. Why chance everything not being perfect? How terrible it would be to receive your shipment of new decals, and have the color be off to the point that you could not use them. Again your local decal manufacturer can match your colors with certainty.

Most online stores produce graphics by digitally printing them, and for the short term that is probably okay. However, if you live in the Southwest, the sun and the heat will fade those graphics pretty quickly. There are a few manufacturers in the Phoenix area that can screen print your graphics. That is definitely the way to go out here. Your graphics can be screen printed with UV inks to give you approximately 5-7 years of durability. You would have to purchase digital graphics several times during that span.

Lastly, there is control. Once you order your decals over the internet, you just wait and hope that when your graphics are delivered, they will be exactly what you want. Buying from a local manufacturer, gives you the ability to have input from the beginning of the process until the end of it. As a matter of fact the local guy wants your input, and wants you to be happy with your new decals. He knows that if you get exactly what you want, you will spread the word, and that is really the best kind of advertisement there is.

My Silver Lining

Every once in while you meet a new customer that you enjoy working with right off the bat…….Someone who understands that you are a salesman and that you want his business, but not at all costs. There has to be fair and open dealings between the two parties. I knew I was up against another decal supplier when I began quoting this new client’s work. I did not know who it was, but after speaking with my customer and finding out that this other company wanted to digitally print his graphics, I had to voice my displeasure regarding digital prints in Arizona. Digital prints just don’t work well out here. They begin to fade too quickly, because of the sun and heat. The best way to produce graphics in the Southwest is to screen print them if you are looking for durability, and who would not want their graphics to last as long as possible! To make a long story short, I was able to convince my client to give the project to Pressure Sensitive Products. After all was said and done, the customer told me that the reason I got his work was because I did everything that a salesman should do to get new business. The Heat Is On!

It is 7:00 am and I am planning my day. The temperature is stifling here in Phoenix this time of year…105° + during the day with no change in sight. It is a good day for a drive and I will be wheeling around town most of the day for sure. It is great to have the air conditioner on full blast, re-circulating the stale air inside my truck. It is so blessed hot outside that the poor air conditioner can’t even do it’s job. As the day goes on the “cold air” seems to get warmer and warmer. You can’t open your windows, because the wind feels like you have a hair dryer blowing in your face…LOL It’s a good thing that I really do love my job!! The biggest thing on my agenda for this day is meeting with one of the local municipalities. We are going to discuss graphics for their police vehicles. I need to make a great presentation, because I know that they have a ton of cars, and because I truly believe that PSP does the best job around when it comes to producing and installing vehicle graphics. There are so many things that I have to make them aware of. The most important piece of information that I can give them is that in order to get really-good graphics, you need really-good artwork. Don’t let anyone tell you anything different! If you expect outstanding graphics, do not use low res files….you just will not get what you want.

It has been a hectic month here at PSP. I have been very fortunate, in that I have brought a few new customers to our company, and I have several more that I have a good feeling about. The last few years have not been kind to small businesses in Arizona. It is about time things started looking up!

I just got back from my annual Las Vegas bowling tournament. My team came in eighth place in a field of 212 teams. We actually won enough money to not worry about what we lost at slots and blackjack…LOL!

At the risk of saying something that many people have said over the past few days……We finally got Bin Laden. The good ole USA never gave up. Now maybe some of those folks directly affected by 9/11 can get a little sleep at night. All Americans were impacted in some way…..maybe we can all rest a little easier. I am sure that some other kook will come along and take his place, so we are all going to have to remain as vigilant as ever. We can’t let our guard down even for a moment. Enough said.
